A growing Japanese restaurant company is seeking an experienced Assistant Area Manager to help lead operations and drive performance across multiple restaurant locations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can effectively manage people, business performance, and day-to-day operations while supporting Store Managers across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate has experience in Japanese restaurant operations, understands restaurant P&L and cost management, and enjoys being actively involved in the field. Frequent local travel is an important part of this position, making it a great fit for someone who is flexible, mobile, and comfortable working across different restaurant locations.

🧾 Key Responsibilities

🏢 Multi-Unit Restaurant Operations

• Support operations and performance across multiple restaurant locations
• Provide leadership and guidance to Store Managers
• Maintain high standards of guest service and restaurant operations
• Monitor labor scheduling, inventory, food costs, and P&L performance
• Review operational reports and identify opportunities for improvement
• Support implementation of company standards and operational plans

📊 Financial & Performance Management

• Support Area P&L management
• Monitor expenses against annual budgets
• Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions
• Monitor food costs, labor costs, inventory, and operating expenses
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability

👥 Store Manager Development

• Coach, train, and develop Store Managers
• Establish performance and professional development goals
• Support recruiting, employee development, and performance management
• Help Store Managers address employee relations and operational issues
• Support succession planning and future management development

📈 Strategic Planning & Marketing

• Support area-level operational and strategic planning
• Develop short-term initiatives to increase sales and transactions
• Assist with local restaurant marketing strategies
• Communicate company objectives to Store Managers
• Align restaurant-level activities with broader business objectives

✅ Compliance & Operational Standards

• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
• Support safety, security, cash handling, and loss-prevention standards
• Conduct operational and compliance audits
• Escalate irregular operational issues as appropriate

🎯 Qualifications

• 3+ years of Area Management experience in the restaurant industry
• Professional experience working in a Japanese restaurant
• Strong multi-unit restaurant operations experience
• Experience managing and developing Store Managers
• Knowledge of restaurant P&L, labor management, inventory, and food cost control
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel frequently between restaurant locations
• Comfortable working in an active restaurant environment, including extended periods on your feet
